NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stock futures are mixed in light trading with investors already looking for clues about the Labor Department's monthly employment figure coming out at the end of the week.
Dow Jones industrial futures are down 8 points to 15,209. The broader S&P futures have lost 0.40 points to reach 1,635.80. Nasdaq futures are up 2.5 points to 2,988.
One of the indicators that will get a close look Tuesday is the trade deficit report from the Commerce Department.
U.S. exporters have wrestled with a broadening recession in Europe and slowing growth in Asia. That could cool the economic recovery at home and affect hiring.
Economists are forecasting that the deficit rose to $41 billion in April, up 5.6 percent from March, partly due to meager growth in exports.
